Work, with the receipts
Hundreds of live sites we built and run
- 501
- domains confirmed live and serving our sites
- 381
- deployed sites with source code and hosting we run
- ~370
- of those with Google Search Console presence
Most of these are cost and pricing reference sites: what a cloud provider charges to move data out, what a monitoring tool costs at a given volume, what an app costs to build. Each one is a small product with its own sources, its own calculator where one helps, and its own record of corrections. Building them taught us the method this consultancy sells: sourced figures, dated claims, and automated checks on the arithmetic.
The audit visited every domain we hold, followed redirects, and counted a domain as ours only where the page carried our marker or our analytics ID. The count is from 23 September 2026; we have launched sites since, including the one in the case study.
Vendors who read our pages and replied
Backblaze
1 Oct 2026
Confirmed our B2 egress page 32 minutes after we sent it: “The page is correct.” They added that egress is also free on B2 Neo, which we checked on backblaze.com and added the same day.
Impossible Cloud
1 Oct 2026
Confirmed the published figures in writing and explained how usage above its fair-use guideline is handled, which the page now states with attribution.
Sematext
16 Sep 2026
Its founder told us three cells on our page were wrong. He was right. We re-derived them from sematext.com/pricing and corrected the page the same day.
Middleware
24 Jul 2026
Confirmed the pricing model and the published per-unit rates on our page.
One of these four was a correction. We include it because it is the record: when a vendor shows us an error, we re-derive the figure from their own published page, correct it, and date the change.
Sources that AI answers send people to
When an AI assistant answers a question and cites a page, some readers click through. In the 28 days to 24 September 2026, egresscost.com received 109 visits from four assistants:
- Gemini51
- Claude34
- ChatGPT14
- Perplexity10
It is a modest number on its own. It matters because an assistant links to a page when it uses that page as a source. That is the standard we write to: one fact per sentence, dated, with its source beside it.
